Ms. Madoff has 30 years of experience in capital markets, risk management and investing activities. She currently serves as an advisor to Goldman Sachs. During her 25-year career at Goldman Sachs, she held several leadership positions, most recently as a Partner and Head of Interest Rate Products and Mortgages Sales and Distribution. Ms. Madoff is a director of Great-West Lifeco and a number of its operating subsidiaries. She also serves as a director of KKR Real Estate Finance Trust, Tradeweb Markets and ICE Benchmark Administration, where she is Chair of the ICE LIBOR Oversight Committee.

The University of Guelph is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lysa Porth as dean of the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, beginning Oct. 1.

Dr. Porth is associate dean of strategic partnerships and administration in the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, and director and department head of the Actuarial Science Department in the school’s Warren Centre for Actuarial Studies.

“Dr. Porth’s experience and vision reflect the Lang School’s mission and values focused on sustainable, ethical business practices, community and entrepreneurship,” said Charlotte Yates, U of G provost and vice-president (academic).

A respected scholar and administrator, Dr. Porth is a recognized advocate for teaching and research.

She has held the Guy Carpenter Research Chair in Agricultural Risk Management and Insurance at U of Manitoba, where she has attracted substantial national funding to study insurance and reinsurance applications to agriculture for product design and pricing, risk modelling and business analytics.

Recognized globally for its commitment to developing future leaders for a more sustainable world and promoting business as a force for good, the Lang School – named following a generous donation from long-time benefactors Kim and Stu Lang – is integral to the University of Guelph’s mission to Improve Life.

Brenda M. Leong, Chair and CEO of the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Gordon Johnson to the position of Vice-Chair.

Gordon Johnson brings over 30 years of securities law and senior litigation experience to the BC Securities Commission. Gordon joins the BCSC from Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) where he was a partner with a practice focused on both prosecuting and defending regulatory issues and investment claims, and dealing with disputes between investment firms. He served on BLG’s national Board for six years. Gordon has significant experience in administrative law matters having appeared as counsel before many tribunals, including the BC Securities Commission, as well as the British Columbia Supreme Court, and the British Columbia Court of Appeal. Gordon received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia. He has served as both Co-Chair and Treasurer of the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, Civil Litigation Subsection.

The BCSC is the independent provincial agency responsible for regulating trading in securities within the province.
